Thank you to all in the UK who welcomed us and our new project, “Fortune”! It was exciting for us to play Naomi’s film and the songs we’ve written for it in front of a live audience. We’re working on recording those songs now, and plan to continue sharing this project. More on that as it develops… While in Glasgow we commissioned a new logo from the junior Youngs, the …continue…

We’re excited to announce the launch of a monthly e-zine, Exact Change, available now as an app for the iPad and iPhone. The app is a free download, and includes the first issue free (if you poke around you’ll actually find three free issues in there, the additional two are easter eggs we snuck in from the 1980s). Additional issues are available by subscription for $2.99 a month, or $29.99 …continue…

Kassin - Sonhando Devagar

Our record label 20-20-20 has a new release, a gorgeous LP (with 3-D artwork and glasses, we don’t do things halfway here at D&N headquarters!) by the Brazilian musician and producer Kassin. Sonhando Devagar [Dreaming Slowly] is probably the happiest of sad hits in our catalogue – it’s from Brazil after all – but the lyrics also rank it among our strangest. Hope you enjoy it as thoroughly as we …continue…

Another new video directed by Naomi! Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses, Breeders, Belly) is releasing solo recordings called Swan Song Series, and her first video for them is “Mass Ave” (we used to live on Mass Ave too!). You can catch up with Naomi’s previous music videos at IMVDb. September starts with a visit from our friend and musical co-conspirator Richard Youngs – we’ll be opening for him in Boston on …continue…

Naomi directed a new video for Future Bible Heroes and Merge Records — “Living, Loving, Partygoing” — where Stephin Merritt (in the band’s words) “demonstrates his ability to stay very, very still.” A nice collection of Naomi’s recent music videos is now up at the IMVDb. See them all! Meanwhile, construction on the Exact Change app continues — look for a launch by end of summer.

It’s our first tour ever of Australia! Check the tour dates page for details. On the way, we’re stopping in Tokyo to see our friends, and the cherry blossoms (another first – somehow all our Japanese tours missed this famous season). If you can, come join us for an indoor hanami party at the afterhours club UFO, on Saturday April 6.

Delighted to announce that we’ll be playing in Australia for the first time, this April – dates and venues on our tour dates page. That warm trip seems far away now, as we dig out from heavy snows here in Massachusetts. We put some of our shut-in time to use, recording a version of John Cage’s 4’33″ – can you hear the snow falling?

A still from Naomi’s new video-in-progress… and this one might be for our own music. We’ll see – it’s epic, and our songs are mostly tragic. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, here’s a finished project: a lavish 3-LP box set Naomi designed for the John Cage Trust, released September 5 in honor of John Cage’s Centennial. Recording Academy members please note: the packaging has been nominated for a Grammy! (Damon is already …continue…
